A feature film podcast featuring friends…
The Featured Friends Podcast was dreamt up in late 2020 as a way to celebrate cinema and the friendships that are forged through a shared love of that celebration. It was created with the intention to both nerd out and reach out during a time of closed movie theaters and far away friendships.
The friends featured on this podcast span five-thousand miles, three decades, and a variety of disciplines and life paths. Their sole, uniting factor–aside from a generous will to indulge the host’s artistic whims–is an appreciation for movies as beloved entertainment and as art in service of something more.
What that more is varies from guest to guest, but their enthusiasm to engage in discussion around it is the bright thread knitting the heart of this podcast together. No genre is off-limits, no film is too big or too small. This is a podcast by and for folks with an endless watchlist.
We hope you’ll listen in and find new flicks to enjoy with us.
The Pitch…
Hey, friend–I am putting together a podcast and I’d love for you to be a guest on it. It’s called The Featured Friends Podcast, and each episode will consist of me discussing a movie that my guest (one of my friends) loves. The movie we discuss is up to you! I’ll watch it before we record and do research so we can talk about behind-the-scenes info and fun facts on the episode. All I ask is that you 1. come up with three movie choices, in case another guest overlaps with your choice, 2. do a rewatch of the agreed upon choice prior to coming on the show so it’s fresh in your brain, and 3. agree to be remotely recorded for ~90 minutes on a date and time of your choosing! You’re welcome to do as much or as little research into the movie as you’d like; it’ll be a relaxed and, hopefully, enjoyable experience to chat. The only thing you need to bring is your enthusiasm to gush about why you love your chosen movie! All genres are fair game, and the podcast is ultimately meant to affirm everyone’s love of movies–be they huge, universally popular and award winning Blockbusters or quirky, straight to DVD forgotten works and guilty pleasures. The goal is to celebrate and bond over a shared love of movies and find a bit of joy in the midst of the hell-scape that is this fucking year. Let me know if you’re in, and we’ll move forward from there!
